The Spoken Word
Passages drawn from the sermons and published works that carry this theme forward.
1909·George Albert Smith·Apostle
I realize that you are here because you believe it is our Father's will that you should be; and you have come for the eternal blessings of our Father, rather than remain at home to seek those things that perish in this life.
1938·Heber J. Grant·Prophet
We are today living through one of the really crucial periods of the world's history, writes the Assistant Secretary of State. Everywhere about us is prodigious change. Old institutions, old beliefs, old ideals are
1951·Henry D. Moyle·Apostle
Knowledge lying dormant and not employed to useful purposes is of very little value. Every man takes himself and what he is with him wherever he goes, and he takes himself also into eternity.
1969·Joseph Fielding Smith·Apostle
Do you desire to enter into the celestial kingdom and receive eternal life? Then be willing to keep all of the commandments the Lord may give you. Baptism and confirmation are the ordinances by which we come into the kingdom of God. But these ordinances of themselves will not grant us a place of exaltation.
1983·Ezra Taft Benson·Apostle
The fundamental principle of our religion is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Why is it expedient that we center our confidence, our hope, and our trust in one solitary figure? Why is faith in Him so necessary to peace of mind in this life and hope in the world to come?
